Unit Superheater Engineering (USE), part of the UnitBirwelco Group, has had a very successful first six months of 2013. The team has undertaken a number of new UK and international projects with existing clients: National Grid, E-ON, SSE, Valero, Dow Corning and Sirte.

This winter USE refurbished eight heat exchangers at the LNG storage at National Gridís facility in Avonmouth near Bristol.

Electricity and gas provider SSE commissioned USE to take part in element repairs within the boiler reheat section of its Fiddlers Ferry power station in Cheshire. USE delivered 960 bifurication pipes to the power station as part of the refurbishment.

This spring USE carried out more work in Wales. The company manufactured and supplied three heat exchanger bundles for the petro-chemical refinery operated by Valero in Pembroke. The team also refurbished and manufactured heat exchanger bundles in support of a June 2013 outage at Dow Corning, Barry.

USE was also commissioned to manufacture new heat exchanger shells and channel head for Sirte Oil in Libya.

Following on from the companyís award winning work at E.ONís Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station, USE has now been asked to provide reheater drums and headers to support planned outages in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
