You may or may not be familiar with our company history, but we've made a lot of changes recently so we thought it would be good to re-visit.
The first division to open was Birwelco in 1902, formerly the Birmingham Welding Company, Birwelco quickly became experts in engineering design, global project management and their world famous flare systems.
Moving on to 1909, Unit Superheater Engineering was formed in Swansea, offering design and manufacture of superheaters and other static equipment.
Fast forward to 2002, where our third division Unit Engineers and Constructors was formed, who brought fabrication, mechanical constructions and maintenance expertise with specialist engineering services.
Two years later in 2004, Unit Engineers and Constructors acquired Unit Superheater Engineering, bringing together fabrication, mechanical construction and maintenance expertise with specialist engineering services. Then in 2010, the Group acquired Birwelco, adding engineering design, global project management and procurement and patented flare systems, to create one of the UK’s only true EPCM contractors.
What about now?
In the last 18 months we have opened a brand new Scottish division - UnitBirwelco Energy, which will focus on green energy ventures.
Our other venture alongside IISP Thermal Equipment Private Limited is UnitBirwelco IISP Thermal Equipment Private Limited, which we set up alongside IISP in India to broaden our international capabilities. With the expertise of both parties, we look forward to developing this project in collaboration with IISP. UnitBirwelco IISP Thermal Equipment Private Ltd will offer specialist design for flares, heaters, heat exchangers, boilers, and other thermal equipment to the Indian market. Utilising our manufacturing facility in India, we can offer the service and flexibility needed for our global client base that are executing projects in the region.
With a greater focus on net zero than ever before, we look forward to seeing more success for our divisions and our joint venture in the coming years.
