COP26 has been eye opening for many these last few weeks. The summit comes six years after the Paris Agreement was signed by over 190 countries to limit rising global temperatures to well below 2 degree C with a view of reaching 1.5 degree C.
During the last 2 weeks, COP26 has been focusing on 4 main goals-
Secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach
Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats
Mobilise finance
Work together to deliver
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that "Securing a brighter future for our children and future generations requires countries to take urgent action at home and abroad to turn the tide on climate change. It is with ambition, courage and collaboration as we approach the crucial COP26 summit in the UK that we can seize this moment together, so we can recover cleaner, rebuild greener and restore our planet.”
As point 4 of the COP26 main goals states, it's important to work together to achieve these goals, collaboration between governments, businesses and civil society will be critical in moving forward.
Being part of a traditionally 'dirty' industry like Engineering, its important for all businesses, shareholders, and government bodies to work together to improve how we work.
While we are a carbon negative business, we don't like focusing on what we have achieved, its time to switch the view to, what more can we do?
As well as our Carbon Negative status, in 2022 we will be focusing or energy usage and how we can improve it. As we are a company with 3 individual sites across the UK, we'll also be looking into things like energy saving lights, reducing printing, educating our staff on how we can all make greener choices, and maintaining the principles of ISO 14001. We've also been focusing our R&D on cleaner products and services, beginning with the launch of our zero emissions hydrogen boiler in collaboration with Hydrogen Technologies inc (read about it here ) also adding Flare Gas Recovery into our product base, as well as offering cleaner upgrades across our product base.
Its time to work together to secure our future.
